Case Study: rebel Christmas – A Rebel Christmas Party
When the season’s brightest colour isn’t red—it’s Rebel Yellow.
Christmas is a time for joy, play, and celebration—but at rebel, it’s also a time to show off everything that makes an Aussie summer unforgettable. For this campaign, we built a world from scratch—a vibrant, rebel-branded playground bathed in our signature yellow, designed to be as instantly recognizable as the products we showcased.
The set was bold and minimal—a bright Rebel Yellow backdrop that let every moment of fun pop. The foreground was pure summer energy:
Kids blowing bubbles and chasing them across the scene.
A spontaneous water fight breaking out.
Trampolines bouncing.
A beach cricket match—complete with sand introduced to the set for authenticity and texture.
A fearless little grommet showing off stunts on a bodyboard.
Pool games with inflatables and Sunny Life loungers, captured from above to create a postcard-perfect summer scene.
The soundtrack was warm and heart-lifting, wrapping all the action in a feel-good summer vibe that said one thing: Christmas is coming—and rebel has everything you need for a season of fun.
The creative was designed for versatility, working as a hero film as well as cut-down retail edits. It blended festive energy with distinctly Australian summer cues, aligning rebel with the way Australians actually celebrate Christmas—outside, in the water, and in motion.
From a behavioural perspective, the campaign used distinctive brand assets (Rebel Yellow as a non-negotiable brand cue), category breadth framing (showing all segments—outdoor, water, games, fitness), and emotional contagion—amplifying joy to drive association.
Results:
44% increase in Christmas-period sales across outdoor and summer recreation categories
Over 5M total views across TV, social, and in-store content loops
Notable spike in aided recall of Rebel’s “yellow” asset (brand tracking post-campaign)
+31% uplift in multi-category baskets vs. the previous Christmas campaign
Campaign was internally recognized as a creative benchmark for brand-ownable festive storytelling
Why it worked:

Because it didn’t just show products. It created a Rebel Christmas world. A world of colour, energy, and joy—where summer fun is the gift, and rebel is where it begins.
